International Property of the Week

PRESS RELEASE

A spectacular 723 hectare mountain estate set high above the Tabernas Desert in Almería, southern Spain.

In a little-known corner of Almería Province, in Andalucia, there is a 108 square mile landscape that has become one of Europe's most famous film locations, used in over 300 films.

The Tabernas Desert is Europe's only true desert and the rugged terrain resembles that found in the Wild West areas of Arizona, Mexico and Texas.

Between the desert and the Mediterranean Sea sits the Sierra Alhamilla mountain range and it is here, set in its own natural forest, that Finca Alhamilla can be found. This very private and secluded 723 hectare (1,787 acres) estate surveys everything that spreads beyond, including the Tabernas Desert, the Sierra Nevada mountains and towards the Cabo de Gata-Nijar coastal natural park.

This is a hidden and wild off-grid paradise that offers a true escape from the modern world, a place where Ibex and Wild Boar roam, and eagles soar. There is no noise pollution, and at night the stars dazzle against the dark skies.

In total, there are 4 fincas (farms) on the estate, two of which have large houses that just need some interior refurbishment. Elsewhere, there are several ruins that could be rebuilt to provide more wonderful private lodges or used as eco-tourism accommodation.

An untouched, remote, natural and wildly beautiful corner of southern Spain in a unique location with endless possibilities, Finca Alhamilla is available through Granada Village and Country at an asking price of €2,345,000.

Notes for Editors

Almería Airport is 48 kms away from Finca Alhamilla, and there are regular flights to the UK.

The Tabernas Desert has been used as a film location since the late 1950s. In the 1960's, the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone were filmed here ('The Good, The Bad and The Ugly', 'A Fistful of Dollars' etc), and more recently, 'Game of Thrones', 'Doctor Who' and 'Black Mirror'.

The Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty with a rugged coastline that stretches some 63 kms, widely considered as one of the most unspoiled Mediterranean coastal areas in Spain.
