LA MORISCA, JIMENA DE LA FRONTERA, CÁDIZ
Guide Price: €5,500,000
Between San Martín del Tesorillo and Jimena de la Frontera, close to the border between Cádiz and Málaga Provinces, there lies this beautiful, verdant and expansive equestrian estate. Given the privacy afforded by the 360 hectares of rolling, forested land it is hard to believe that Gibraltar is only 40 minutes’ away by car and the Polo Clubs and Marina of Sotogrande are only 30 minutes’ drive away.
La Morisca was built in 2001 as a bull farm and as a general sporting estate for hunting and equestrian pursuits. Accordingly, a great deal of money was invested in infrastructure, including a sophisticated network of watering sprinklers for the main grazing pastures, a sand school and stabling for horses and a tack room. Away from the main cortijo, there is an enormous barn of 1,200 m2 that also has 2 apartments used for staff attached to the finca.
The estate was sold in 2020 and has not really been occupied since that time. As a result, the main cortijo has that appearance of not having been a home for a few years, but this does not detract in any way from the huge potential of this property. With some further investment in the interior design of the primary residential buildings, this could be a breathtaking property in its own private and secluded corner of Andalucia, a mere 30 minutes from the Costa del Sol.
The estate was designed for leisure and sport and it is perfect for this.
The location and the landscapes are fabulous. This is Andalucia at its most verdant: hills and forests that gives glimpses of the white village of Jimena de la Frontera and the Rock of Gibraltar, and back towards Casares. The pastures across the estate are perfect for the grazing of cattle and horses and the 40 kms of farm tracks provide a great network for riding. This was once a property for entertaining, both for business and leisure, and there are two helipads and ample guest parking. A large part of the estate is set aside for hunting and there are wild boar and some deer here; the entire estate is fenced and gated.
In one corner of the estate there is a large area that could be used as a show jumping practice arena or turfed as a polo practice field.
