  • Total cave and plot area 650 m2

  • Two independent cave houses.

  • Cave 1: 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, kitchen and spacious hall.

  • Cave 2: 2/3 bedrooms, bathroom, open-plan living/dining room and kitchen.

This area of Granada Province, part of the Granada Geopark, is famous for its cave houses. People here have lived in homes carved out of the landscape for millennia and it is easy to understand the benefits of living in these most characterful of properties. The interior temperatures remain consistent throughout the year - comfortable in both the heat of the summer and the chilly temperatures that prevail in winter. Not only that, but there is something exciting about living in a home carved out of rock, with organically created rooms and a Hobbit-like sense of cosiness.

These two independent caves were totally reformed around 10 years ago but, since then, they have barely been used and have taken on an air of slight neglect. That said, if the caves were given a good clean they would be absolutely ready for new occupants. The properties, together, would be a very good investment for holiday rentals subject to obtaining a tourism license. There are examples across the Geopark of cave houses that have been transformed into charming and very comfortable holiday rental properties in the heart of a historic and geologically fascinating corner of Spain.

Each cave has been designed to be as spacious as possible, and to allow as much natural light to enter. Timber doors are hand made and there are very good quality fittings that add character to the interior spaces. Bathrooms are large, and the living areas are very comfortable in size.

    CAVE 1.

The front stable door opens into a generous living room with open fireplace, and from this room the cave opens up to provide a kitchen, bathroom and two double bedrooms.

    CAVE 2

Again, a stable door opens into a large open-plan living/dining room with kitchen area and open fireplace. Large bathroom. Two separate double bedrooms and a smaller third bedroom or storage area.

    Outside.

At the front of the house, wide metal gates open onto a very large semi-circular patio area with plenty of room for parking cars and for outdoor dining. There is a built in barbecue in one corner.

A staircase, made of reconstituted railway sleepers, leads up from one corner to the circular mirador above the caves. The views from here are spectacular, across to the Sierra Nevada and vast expanses of the Granada Geopark.

An unusual, exciting and well-built property with enormous potential for very little additional outlay.
